Hanoi City, Vietnam 2009

Spent about 4 days in Hanoi City, Vietnam. Given the choice, I actually prefer Ho Chih Minh to Hanoi although Halong Bay is really awesome. Halong Bay will be in a separate post.

Motorbikes are such a common way of getting around for the locals that even the dog knows to sit still on the bike :) Wreakage of a French plane from the war This is the Ho Chih Minh Museum where the body of Ho Chih Minh was embalmed and kept. Lined up for about two hours to get in to see his body. This dog was enjoying playing by himself Street hawkers on the....streets :) This guy is a mobile tailor French loaves being sold by the road side Went to watch a traditional Vietnamese water puppet show These are the human beings behind the sceneHua Lou - Rice fields with the rocks formation in the background Tam Coc - this place is known as Halong Bay on Land
Rowing underneath the rock Taking a break @ the U-turn point. There were even hawkers on the boats trying to sell food to tourists.
Had this beef noodles at this local place where the menu is in Vietnamese; none of the staff spoke English & all other customers are locals. It was very delicious!! One of the many Vietnamese Pho I had Vietnamese sake - I didn't have to taste it to know it's very strong from the smell! It is actually slightly purple in colour. Veggie Pickled cucumber & carrot Fried fish Vietnamese-style stir-fried squids Spread of local Vietnamese food as a local outlet The Vietnamese mix fish sauce with chilli, vinegar and lemon as a dip. It was really nice! Vietnamese-style bean curd The spring rolls in Hanoi are always fried; unlike those in Ho Chih Minh. BBQ goat meat Had KFC for one of the last meals there coz had a craving for junk food! Notice that they still use real metal fork and knife and real plastic plates.
